CULTURAL FIX: Le Café des Arts experience

Yvette Maniglier was Matisse's last protégée and Le Café des Arts has enthusiasts happily driving two hours to spend an evening with her landscapes and sculptures: the 1840's sugar mill is full of brushes with expressionism and Fauvism and pictures of time spent in Paris, Venice and Tuscany. The café part of the name is a little misleading, as the chefs here have five-star hotel experience, with plates of lobster, sole and foie gras served on white-clothed tables.

Le Café des Arts attempts to infuse their food with a cultural and artistic ethos, and to create an institution focused on art, culture and gastronomy.
